Save your Counter-Strike cases? Valve's new update changes sticker capsules and souvenirs
Valve kicks another case out of the game
Valve continues to push new updates on the Counter-Strike Market. This time the Major items were revamped, losing the usual capsules and other mechanics that were normal during the Valve sponsored event.
Is this the end lootboxes and should players hold on to them while they exist? The trend seems to deprecate these cases items and to move away from this system.

No more cases on Major
It wasn't a long time ago since we talked about cases and once again Valve decided to take measures against their current system of lootboxes. Ahead of the IEM Cologne Major they have announced new changes that impact these type of tournaments.
What is the future of Counter-Strike Cases
Now there won't be the usual sticker capsules, another lootbox. You will be able to buy the stickers that you want through their currency, Tokens. Then you will be able to create your souvenirs with the stickers that you purchased.
So another type of case that has been written off is the Souvenir package. They've suffered a few changes from time to time but this time they were taken off the game.
Souvenirs can be traded up
This is another update that meets what was written here previously - Valve is getting rid of lootboxes and opening up the system. Again, the company has a open lawsuit in the state of New York, and these type of measures is to present the game as less of a casino.
Another thing that has shook the market is allowing to trade-up souvenir skins. Before this update, souvenirs would just sit as these type of skins that you would get and forget or instant sell.
All of a sudden these Counter-Strike skins just sky rocketed in value, with a lot of these items doubling their prices. The losers of this update are the regular skins of these collections, since there was a big movement of skins that are allowed into the Trade-up pool, these skins just went down a lot...
On the other hand, since capsules are not available anymore, people who did buy old capsules as an investment could be looking at some decent gains.
Conclusion
With another Major update in Counter-Strike, it starts to become clear that Valve wants less lootboxes and more direct transactions with the game. It is possible that the next few years will have more updates that will make all cases as part of the past with new systems.
It is impossible to understand what is the next good decision, but so far, holding on to items has been the good one. All of the players that held on to their souvenirs just got some crazy gains.
